Financial education, financial consumer protection, and financial inclusion are recognized at the highest policy level as three essential ingredients for the financial empowerment of individuals and the overall stability of the financial system. Assessing the financial literacy competencies of the population is a key component of a successful national financial education strategy (OECD, 2020).
The financial literacy survey aims to acquire valuable information from the adult population in Aruba on their financial attitudes, behaviors, and knowledge. Additionally, some questions on environment sustainability are included to assess possible relationships between financial behavior and sustainable environmental behavior. The information obtained will be used to develop and recommend policies and programs to strengthen the financial literacy of the adult population in Aruba.
