In February 2004, the CBA issued a revised series of the florin banknotes that came in lieu of the 1990 and 1993 series. This series included several security features, including a silver-colored foil, a security thread, an electrotype watermark, and iridescent patterns. Since August 12, 2019, when the new series of banknotes were introduced, the 2003 banknotes series ceased to be legal tender and as such cannot be used anymore to make payments. However, these banknotes can be exchanged at the CBA until August 12, 2049.
